Shanghai-Last Day and Water Village

Today was our last day in China. It was a sad day but also peaceful. We started off by going to the Jade Buddha Temple. It was a small temple but very interesting. We then went to a propaganda collection of the propaganda of Chairman Mao. We saw lots of different types and times under Chairman Mao. Some were against the US but most were pro Mao and communism. It was interesting to see the propaganda of the Chinese. We left the collection and drove an hour and a half outside of Shanghai over terribly bumpy roads to a water village. One could say that the village was the Chinese Venice. We visited the home of a very rich family, now a museum, ate lunch nearby, and then went shopping. We were there for about two hours. We really enjoyed the lunch and the shopping. We finally left and went to our “farewell” dinner. The dinner was on a boat. The boat was docked and had two dragonheads and necks in the front. On the back, there were two tails. The food was just as good. There was some duck and shrimp. We also played a card game for a while and everyone had a couple of good laughs. A few people also walked with Mr. Johnson out to check out the main shopping street in Shanghai, Nanjing Road. They bought a few things and enjoyed the view. All in all, today was a good ending for a great trip. We shall miss China but are excited to return home to friends and family.
